Santa's Elves Hats and the Holiday Post Office

Every year, Elizabeth Simcoe organizes a "Holiday Post Office" within the school where students and teachers write letters to other students or staff within the school. The address for Room #6 is "6 Santa's Workshop" and I specifically chose that address years ago because the grade 1 and 2 students often remind me of little elves working hard on their letters throughout much of the month of December.

In an effort to add fun and enthusiasm to this year's post office experience, I will be permitting students to bring in and wear an "elfish" hat or headpiece when they are working on their letters. These hats can be purchased at any dollar store and may be of any kind: Santa hat, reindeer antlers, elf hats, snowman hats, etc.

If your child does decide to bring in a hat, please be sure to label it with your child's name and remind him/her never to share or exchange hats with anyone as head lice can sometimes become an issue at this time of year.

P.S. While I'm on the subject, please take a moment to check your child's hair occasionally for the presence of head lice and/or nits. Please see the following link for more info:

If you do discover that your child does have head lice, please notify the school and keep your child at home until you have administered an appropriate treatment.
